ulven trouble using a external c library in Activex control
I have created a scriptable activex control which uses an external C library. I'm using this library to send http messages to a server. The control is intended to use through JSCript. What my control does is myactivexControl.send("HTTP data"). This method internally uses the c library. The c library runs and it waits for a reply. When the reply comes it hand me the response. But I have a problem. C library does not capture the response sometimes. But it captures the response most of the time. When I use the C library without wrapping it in my ATL com class this is not happening. The c library works fine alone. 1. Is this can be happening due to the interaction between c and ATL com 2. Is this happening because of the browser. (A ...Show All
Xengor IE7: Img control NOT allowed to view local files???
Hi, I have an image preview function (in javascript) that allows the user to view an image before it is uploaded to the web site. I use the standard upload control (type="file") which- when set by browsing to an image- is used to determine the image path on the user's local machine. For some reason IE7 refuses to display the image. This works in IE6. I have to admit that this did not work in FireFox so maybe there is some standards incompatibility that is involved. code is : var path=up.value; // 'up'is the upload control img.src=path; // 'img' is the image control I've tried various ways to modify the local path with file:/// and file://localhost/ but nothing seems to work. Any one know Thanks! Jack ...Show All

SechMolinari Question: Adding custom properties to indexed documents?
Is is possible to add custom properties to the documents being indexed by WDS 3.0, to allow creation of complex queries taking into account document metadata As far as I know, there was such a possibility in Indexing Service on previous Windows versions. I have tried to implement a custom IFilter returning meta-data properties from the overriden GetChunk / GetValue functions of the IFilter interface. These methods are called by WDS engine during document indexing, but I cannot figure out is there any way to enumerate all the registered property types (looked in online MSDN content, Vista SDK, Channel9, Microsoft forum - no luck so far) Is it possible with the current WDS 3.0 API present in Vista SDK Is it possible to use custom properti ...Show All

Sideout WDS 3.0B2 - Losing list of included locations?
After installing B2 I went to options and set search to include most of the folders on my C drive. After doing that search status showed that it was going to index 120K files. I tried a search and didn't get a match I thought I should have. I went to options and the included folders list doesn't include the items I'd previously added. I added them again. Again, search status said it would index 120K files. It is a few days and I just opened options again and the list of included folder is empty again! "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Event Viewer" With the "Application" Section highlighted, look for items called "Windows Search Service" under the "Source" column. Sunil Virmani IE 7 - scrolling jumps
Is there a default setting I can change in IE7 that will stop the jumping when I try to scroll using a mouse wheel It's almost as bad as what I see when I'm connected remotely to another machine. Thanks, R. Hill I have just uninstalled my logitech mouse software, and letting XP take care of the mouse. Great news no more scrolling jumps, fingers crossed it stays like this! This was not an issue with IE6, only started with IE7 RC1. My mouse is about 4 years old, maybe later logitech drivers dont have this problem, but I might as well still with the MS ones while it appears to be working now. Cesar Francisco IE7 FTP Security Issue
I have run into a security hole in my ftp site that has only now become a problem with IE7. The structure of my ftp directory involes several streaming media folders and a Client folder in the root directory. The contents of the client folder and its children are all password protected. Inside these folders I upload content for my clients to view approvals and allow them to upload files for my own use. The root directory has read-only permissions for everybody because of the streaming content I am hosting. In the past when a client logs into their ftp folder, the password protected nature of the client folder prevents them from moving up in the hierarchy outside of their folder. In IE7 however, I have found that a client can now leave he ...Show All

vagrant www.live.com Debug Issue
Hi, I am trying to debug my browser add on. When navigated to www.live.com I am unexpectingly recieving two navigation messages when a search result link is clicked. eg if you put a breakpoint in your handler for DISPID_BEFORENAVIGATE2 you will see it gets called twice is succession with the same URL to navigate to. It appears to be specific to www.live.com and I am assuming this is to do with some asynchronous call the site is making. All other sites I tested do not exhibit this behaviour. Has anyone else come across this issue , is it to do with www.live.com or should I keep debugging. Thanks for any help Ian Use Fiddler ( www.fiddler2.com ) to watch the traffic.
