Parker Lewis IE7 cookie problem
Can anyone help with the following. When I log on to a web page, a session is created and saved using in-proc cookies which are saved in the IE7 client browser. When a new window is opened in the same session and then closed, the cookies are deleted and the session is lost, even though the first window is still opened. The session was not closed. This happens only on certain PCs, not always and only with IE7 . This problem is only with IE7, all other browsers are ok. Is this a problem we have to put up with or will it be fixed by the IE developers greetings This is an IE7 bug. The session cookies are getting deleted when you close a window. At the moment no fix exists accept not to use cookies for your ...Show All

Tom Arn "Error on page": ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell") JavaScript IE7 Intranet
Specifically LINE 5, fails when run via a CLIENT accessing a LOCAL SERVER: <html><head> <script language=JavaScript> function fn_DPW (a) { MyObject = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell"); } </script> .... I tried all the lowest intranet security privilages on the IE7 client machine. Privilaged SITES include the server. Converting file to myFile.HTA (from myFile.HTML) only allows the hyperlink command <A href=myFunction('27973')"> to not find the server, i.e., with the text: "The page cannot be displayed" Of course everything is peach keen on IE6. Thank you for any thoughts on .HTA solutions, JavaScript solutions, and/or the meaning of life. OK, I found the s ...Show All
nobugz Windows Vista Gaming Performance
I just read over on Neowin that gaming performance in Vista will be 10-15% slower in Vista. Can someone tell me whether or not this is true Thanks! - James There seems to be a huge difference between different games, some work just like before and some works realy bad. This is my experience of vista so far: Battlefield 2, Equal framerate, slightly faster loadingtimes on vista. BF1942, 50% lower framerate and double loadingtime on vista(auch!). WarCraft 3, Equal loadingtime and framerate. Quake 3, Equal loadingtime and framerate in fullscreen, in windowmode framerate and loadingtime is about 10 times slower on vista(unplayable). Quake1, About 10times slower on vista(unplayable). FlatOut 2, Equal loadin ...Show All
VBAddict IE7 and desktop icons
I just installed Internet Explorer 7 today, which I guess is a.k.a. Windows Live . All of my fancy customized shortcuts on the desktop disappeared and each got replaced by the same generic windows icon. Right-clicking & changing the icons in properties no longer works. Also, when I create an internet shortcut while browsing, that creates a shortcut with that same generic icon (not even an explorer logo). Now my desktop is just one forest of identical icons. Anyone know how I can fix this I've wasted all day without success. The issue is not the favicon. In my case it is for a shortcut to a webpage that has been placed on the desktop. I have several web based applications that I had ...Show All

David Cowell Clean Access Agent
I attend college and in order to get onto the college's intranet I had to uninstall IE7 beta because the computer people on campus said that IE7 does not support clean access agent. I really got used to IE7 and I hated having to go back to IE6, is what they said true (that IE7 does not support CCA) or did they make a mistake and I could finally go back to IE7. Hi, This is a known issue for IE7 and we are following up with Cisco regarding it. Thanks -Dave ...Show All

Jun_1111 WDS 3.0 ADM
Does anyone know if/when ADM files will be released for WDS 3 to manage through GPO I currently have the 2.6 ADM files but the settings don't work on the new version. JHurt, Microsoft currently is not supporting group policies with 3.0. We are working on adding group policy support in the near future. In the mean time, we are suggesting that our enterprise customers continue using WDS 2.6.5 as that will better meet your needs. Paul Nystrom - MSFT Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of that. The reason I'm testing version 3 is because the 2.6.5 version I tested, gave read-only errors when trying to save files on network shares. Version 3 works great but I can't control it s ...Show All

JFoushee Problem crawling with a hierarchical custom protocol handler
I have developed a hierarchical custom protocol handler that I'm integrating with Windows Search on Vista. The handler has a IUrlAccessor and IFilter implementation that enumerates the contents of a directory by returning the search URL of each "file" in the directory as a text chunk with the STAT_CHUNK structure specifying the GathererPropset and PID_GTHR_DIRLINK propid. My understanding is that the indexer should take these URLs and queue them for indexing, in which case I should see subsequent calls to CreateAccessor with those URLs. However, instead I'm seeing the indexer call CreateAccessor once to get the directory accessor, then it reads the dirlink text chunks, but it never make the expected additional calls to Create ...Show All

n3zdh IE7 - Cancel New Tab or New Window

Should this still work for IE7, or should it be done differently for IE7 Thanks, Roy case DISPID_NEWWINDOW3: // This is a new (post-XPSP2) version of IE, which generates the NEWWINDOW3 event. { if (!ContinueNavigating(pDispParams->rgvarg[0].bstrVal, this)) { // Suppress the navigation. *(pDispParams->rgvarg[3].pboolVal) = VARIANT_TRUE; } } break; This should work for IE7. Woyler C# version of Password Stars:
Windows Forms apps make it too easy to create something without writing much (if any) code. For example, to have a user enter a password displaying only asterisks is simply done by changing the textbox property. But isn't it more satisfying to actually program your own code for it, as in this Console application Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim ch, word As String word = "" Console.Write( "Enter your password: " ) Do ch = Console.ReadKey( True ).KeyChar 'get character without display If ch = Chr(8) And word.Length > 0 Then 'backspace to delete Console.CursorLeft = Console.CursorLeft - 1 'move back one column Console.Write( " " ) 'erase last star Co ...Show All
