yln Alternatives to IELaunchURL: use CoCreateInstance to create a WebBrowser object running in Protected Mode?
Originally posted in this thread , but got no response after 5 days. Sorry for the long-windedness, but I'm getting desperate for some answers. I'm revising an existing application for Vista-compatibility. This application makes extensive use of the IWebBrowser2 interface and IE to display web pages, primarily from the company's own site (like an about page), but it could potentially navigate anywhere. The app is written in C++ and runs at medium integrity level (medium IL is required for most of what this app does). The problem occurs when the app navigates to a URL in a zone that requires IE Protected Mode. Because my app runs at medium IL, the WebBrowser object I obtain via CoCreateInstance is in an instance of IExplore.exe runnin ...Show All

Shiva3Al!3n Asynchronous Pluggable Protocol
Hello, I have developed an APP that adds a layer of authentication/crypto on top of http. It works fine with IE5/6 but the first tests with a beta of IE7 showed that it would need to be updated (invalid syntax when calling http downstream). At the time, I saw little documentation on the subject and hoped it would be updated by the time ie7 was released. The time has come but the doc appears to be in the same state (still preliminary and subject to change). Can we expect some more documentation An updated APP sample would be nice. Thanks, Christophe We are doing the latter. Our protocol is registered permanently under its own scheme. The protocol is very much HTTP like and in t ...Show All
tayoga Locked Network Files
Question: Other than excluding mapped network drives from indexing, is there a way to avoid WDS locking network files and preventing others from working with them (specifically, saving them) Details: When one or more workstations in our office are configured to index shared network resources, very often (larger) files in these locations become locked by the indexer, thus preventing the author from working with the files. In a specific example, we often run into problems updating PDFs or saving a Visio documents. The file server shows that the lock belongs to an unattended workstation running WDS. Also, it's odd that many of the files are fairly static... causing us to wonder why the indexer would be looking at the content again a ...Show All

The only way to make good stuff, is to make crappy stuff first, so you know what's crappy and what's good... Now, if you want to make this a good browser, think about what you would need to be in that if you were to use it 8 hours a day. Think of all the features you'd w ...Show All

Matt525 Microsoft and its 'new' Halo: Wars RTS Game, and Derelict Studios
Well, as most have probably heard, Microsoft has come out with a 'new' Real Time Strategy game called Halo: Wars, a game to be made for the X-Box 360. I quote 'new', because it is not a new idea, nor shall all the credit go to those people who work in Microsoft. A Modification for the game C&C Generals, called Halogen, was a mod in the works for approximatly 3 years, where people from the community pitched in numerous hours of work and labour for the good of the community, and a playable release was soon to come for those of us desperate to download it. Microsoft came in close to before the release and forced the memebers of Derelict Studios to close down Halogen and halt all progress on the game, and close down the ...Show All

Hello migue333, WDS 3.0 beta 2 does not currently have the ability to index network drives. We are currently working to add that functionality. In the meantime, we are suggesting that customers in corporate environments continue to use WDS 2.6.5. I will be sure to post when we have added the functionality to 3.0. XWVUE IE7 Toolbar Icons
Is it possible to extract the IE7 toolbar icons for use in applications with web browser control or are these protected or inaccessible I've looked for them and can't find them. Indeed, they are in ieframe. Thanks. - I'm just making a slightly modified version of IE in VS2005 with the webbrowser control, and it's just for personal use, I don't plan to even distribute it. I am curious about whether it's legal though. MS makes a lot of their icons available for use but I haven't seen the IE toolbar icons anywhere so I don't know about that. Vedet.. WDS support indexing of other browsers?
Can WDS (2.6.6. or 3.0) index history or bookmarks from other browsers such as Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Opera,... I would hope so, but haven't been able to find anything that clearly states this. There is no support for that out of the box. The WDS platform is extensable. The other browsers would need to incorporate that functionality into thier products. ...Show All

On other forums I use, when you hit Reply, the reply doesn't allow you to type a subject for the post. This is handy because if you're replying and you ever find yourself trying to think of a title, you know you clicked the wrong button. I don't know if that would be useful here, or if it happens infrequently enough that it's not worth it. Certainly not a priority for the forums team I'm sure! I guess not .
