Bill Henning Failed to remove the old catalog
I uninstalled the Office 2007 beta and just installe dthe latest version from MSDN (RTM). After starting Outlook it said that it required WDS 3.0 (RTW) so I nstalled that. Now I get this in the event log: The Windows Search Service has failed to remove the old catalog. Internal error <0,0x80070003>. WDS tells me that 0 items are searched and that indexing is not running. The usual repairs don't work (start/stop the service, reboot). Any idea where these catalogs are located so that I can delete them manually If you go to the Windows Search shortcut (mag glass) on the bottom right; right click and select "Windows Desktop Search Options" then select "Advanced". kuha60 How to calculate the mailbox hash to construct URL path
Hello, It seems WDS is using some hash number in MAPI url to locate items. For example, the text in red : mapi://LocalHost/default/Mailbox - Wang, George ( $d3f5 )/ Is it possible to expose the hashing routine so that we can construct the URL from mailbox ENTRYID Here is a doc about something similiar, http://blogs.msdn.com/stephen_griffin/archive/2006/05/10/594641.aspx , search for "ComputeStoreHash", not sure if they are related somehow Thanks! Hi, Paul, Could you also give us a routine for calculating the hash code which is appended to the store display name Because the store display names for 2 PST files could be the same, we need to know which one the URL is pointing to. ...Show All
Inmon WDS 3.0 requires me to use cached mode in outlook 2003?
Is there anyway around this 2.6 does not require this and it searches all of my main mailbox email just fine. I can enable the option but im scared that it will somehow slow down outlook or cause problems when I use outlook from home on the web interface. I saw an older thread that said there was a way to disable this in the registry but I do not have the registry folders listed in that post. Is there a way to disable this or is my only choice to go with cached mode I am using WinXP Pro SP2 with Outlook 2003 and MS Exchange Server. Just for reference, email search worked fine on my main mailbox using 2.6. Thanks! so, i found the answer from microsoft i have recived. WDS 3.0 can index uncached exch ...Show All

Michael Herman - Parallelspace WDS Shutdown Issues
I've seen comments about this problem in other forums, but not here, so I thought I would bring it up... WDS does not seem to like to shut down gracefully when Windows is shut down. On virtually every shutdown, a "Waiting for WindowsSearchIndexer..." window will appear, and as often as not the progress bar makes it all the way to the end before it shuts down, and the user has to click on the "End Now" button to terminate the process. The problem occurs both with the most recent released version of WDS Enterprise, and with the 2.6.5.5373 beta. Needless to say, we consider this issue a show-stopper for enterprise deployment. Is anyone aware of a workaround for this Jerry H ...Show All

Rajesh Kumar Revelli Wireless Speaker System
Hi I like to design many things and im wondering if its possible (and if its already been made) a speaker system where you can keep adding more to your system. Basically you have the transmitters, these will be plugged into anything that plays sound from a PC to a TV or Hi-Fi system. There can be only one channel where all these play to so you can have either one thing playing or more than one thing Then you have the speaker which recieve the audio from all the transmitters, the speakers can be added in any number so you can have a few in each room of the house. Awesome for a party! Im stuck on the power for the speakers becuase the transmitters can be plugged in but haveing ever speaker plugged in to the wall or every speaker ...Show All

jpgirard Protocol Handler SDK? Need searchapi.h, srchprth.idl files.
Hi, All. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have been doing research and I can't seem to find searchapi.h , srchprth.idl anywhere. I have installed the Windows Server 2001 SP1 SDK, Office 2007 SharePoint Server SDK and Windows Sharepoint Services V3 SDK, none of which have the required files. Unless I'm missing something, this shouldn't be this difficult. I've read through the limited devguide ( http://addins.msn.com/devguide.aspx#Interfaces ) but the SDK offered there is only the WDS Query API. Can someone please help Stephane Hello Vikas, I you want to develop a PH for WDS 3 then you need the new searchapi.h and searchapi.idl contained in the Windows ...Show All
c_shah Unistalling Windows Desktop Search 3.0 RTW
I installed Windows Desktop Search 3.0 RTW. I have scoured the Internet to try and find answers on how to unistall it - with no exacting results. It is not listed under Add/Remove programs and to the best of my knowledge there is no uninstall file. Yes, I checked updates in Add/Remove, and yes I have looked for a spuninst file. The program installed and is operating fine but I just don't want it on my system. What I am asking is to get a list of the files and/or folders to delete, and what registry entries to delete/change that will totally remove this program from my system. Thank you in advance, ...Show All

Testsubject Problems With Backorderable Products
I have entered values into the inventory catalog that I believe mean the product should be on backorder. I have played around with these figures but the Product.IventoryConditon property just returns in stock / out of stock, never backorder (or pre-order for that matter). When I look at the inventory condition logic here http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa545595.aspx (the section that starts with Else If Stock Handling = 1) I can’t see how the logic could work. If the on hand quantity is greater than the threshold it will always be in stock. If the on hand quantity is less than the threshold then how can it ever meet the following "else if" conditions The only way I can see it could work is if the values other th ...Show All
Cla82 Is MS trying to throw away menu bar?
In IE7, classic menu bar is disabled by default. In Office 2007, there is not menu bar at all. Also the traditional toolbar is gone. I can't find a way to create my own custom toolbar too. What's happening I know menu bar is very classic and not pretty, but it is one single place that I am 100% sure that I can get all the features from a program. I don't want to lose it. The problem with the toolbars and menus is that it is harder to find functionality when there is a lot of it (like in the Office and Photoshop). There are just too many choices. People have been asking features for Office that have been there for years. Reason: they don't know that the functionality exists already as they can't fi ...Show All
