matman13 Tracing for Team System?
Hi, I have a TS user that is experiencing heavy performance problems when executing work item queries or using test view. We are trying to locate the cause of this problem. Is there a way to activate tracing or logging for team system to see what is going on internally What are good tools to analyse a problem like this Thanks for any suggestions. Btw all other users do not experience any performance issues when using TS. Tom Thanks for your answer. Actually I'm not trying to trace on the server side. I am searching for a way to trace what Visual Studio Team System is doing on the client side. Is there a way to trace what visual studio is doing while being used by an user All ideas are welcome. CityBird Can not install because TFS is already installed on server???
We had asked a contractor to take the time to install the Workgroup edition of TFS on a department server for evaluation. The contractor ended up leaving and the state of the TFS installation was unclear so I simply uninstalled TFS and initiated a re-install myself. SQL and Sharepoint seem to be fine. At this point the installation for TFS gives me an error while it is checking for pre-requisites and states that it can't install TFS because TFS is already installed on the server. I of course had already successfully uninstalled it. It does not show up under Control Panel - Add, Remove Programs. Does anyone out there no how I can get past this Thanks, Dale Dale: You might try g ...Show All
frieste "Add" operations not appearing in VS 2005 when performed from VS.NET 2003
Our development shop uses VS.NET 2003 with the MSSCCI provider plug-in. One of the big drawbacks of the plug-in is that it breaks up check-in operations into separate changesets, making documenting those changesets more difficult. One of the workarounds I had come up with involved refreshing the VS 2005 Pending Changes window. This would show all pending changes that needed to occur in VS.NET 2003, or so I thought. It turns out that only edit operations are visible from VS 2005 in this case. This means all add and delete operations need to be treated as separate changesets. Is there a workaround for this other than upgrading to VS 2005 I figured out how to get it to show pending changes. I must ...Show All

I'v tested VSS 2005 with following configuration: Site A: 512Kpbs DSL Site B: 256Kpbs DSL Project Size: Around 10-15 files (total size just 500kb) but it disappointed me as its taking too much time to do checkin and checkout and even navigating the solution explorer is very slow. here r the stats Opening Project = 15 minutes File checkout of around(65kb) = 10 minutes Solution tree navigation = 1-2 minutes to navigate form 1 node to other No i wana try TFS, so plz tell me wat minimum bandwidth is required to run TFS remotly. comspy VC++ 2005 Exp. Ed. closes when I try to create New Project (CLR)
Hello, I installed VC++ 2005 Express Edition yesterday; I even purchased a book to help me get started. The installation (Internet) went smoothly, but whenever I want to create a new .NET Project (File > New > Project > CLR > Windows Forms Application / CLR Console Application ) the program just closes. I'm using XP Professional, SP2, and I do have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the program along with the .NET Framework, it obviously did not solve the problem, that is why I am here asking for your help. Thank you in advance, Alex. Thanks for replying Dennis, it seems that my antivirus program (the one in the McAfee Internet Security Suite ...Show All

me262 CTRL+SPACE in Visual Web Developer
I have hit CTRL+SPACE in the code editor whilst writing a page as I needed to see the Object Member List that pops up. I then inadvertantly hit CTRL+SPACE again this has stopped it popping up automatically and now when I do prompt it, it gives me all objects, as opposed to those that are immediately relevant to the context in which I am working. Can I put this back to the default Thanks in advance. Sorry, ignore this ... simple reboot resolved it. I thought there maybe a shortcut that I had inadvertantly triggered. ...Show All

I would like to know if a solution built on a machine with Professional Edition can be opened on another machine with Team Edition. I am getting the following error: " The Project type is not supported by this installation" Thanks If it is a Web Application Project, that means the Professional Edition machine installed the WAP add-on, and the error message indicates the Team Edition machine doesn't have that add-on. connexion2000 VSTS Configuration Manager
Two caveats before asking my question: 1) My solution is notoriously mangled. It works 99% of the time, but occasionally crazy things happen that I can't explain. This may be one of those instances. 2) I'm running VSTS 2005 without the foundation server up. (Don't ask, we don't want to go there. Oh that's right, something about not running on domain controllers. Not nice for one man shops. Both my enterprise servers are DC's so they can back each other up. I guess I'll have to get VM server running one of these days.) That said, I try following the directions in the help (i even connected to the online stuff - ugh! - to make sure I got the latest and greatest). I cannot find Configuration Manager on the "Build Menu" w ...Show All

Gnarlito Manual Install fails using ISOBuster
ISOBuster extracts files using the 8.1 file names, this causes the setup to fail. Using MagicISO (even the trial version) will extract the files properly. I think you have to extract both nodes under track01 in the same folder to work. only one won't cut it. I've been using ISOBuster since betas and have had no problems, it's been a godsend since I have dail up and the inet install always fails. I use FreeDownloadManager and ISOBuster and have had no problems with them. I used DVDDecryptor to create my CD's and it worked fine. I have also seen posts where people have renamed the files to have the iso extension and the extract has worked fine, you might want to try that. > ...Show All
Mark Wills VB Xpress not generating samr code as vb.net 2003
When I create a windows app in 2003, there is a plethara of system generated code created: under the #Region tag public sub New dispose overloads debugger diagnostic entries with all of the form objects definitions The xpress version does none of this. Anyone know why Has this been dropped by framework 2.0 My 2003 (framework 1.1) code runs ok in xpress after converting..... kim allbritain The designer generated code is separated out into a partial class, in a separate file. You can see this by selecting the 'show all files' button in the solution explorer. There will be a sub-file called {yourFormName}.designer.vb Ordinarily, that code does not need to be modified, so there's no reason to show it. P ...Show All
GTrz No backslahes in regular expressions for work item rules? (MATCH pattern attribute)
I attempted to write a regular expression to disallow backslashes in work item titles.
