• Windows Forms Connecting to a Web Service

  Our Client Application needs to connect to a webservice, which is in the same solution, different project though. I can do it perfectly on my box, and it works, however, it's defauled to "localhost". All of our customers have their own sub-domain for their site. Example: Customer1.OurSite.net Customer2.OurSite.Net ... Customer532.ourSite.net And so on. So... When they first run this application, I ask them to input their website address, which I save to an XML file. This way that client will be set to lock-onto that website. How do I tell my application to point the webservice to Customer1.ourSite.Net instead of localhost Theoretically I want to change the settings in that XML file 10 times in 10 minutes and have the application hit each ...Show All

  Before I commit serious time and effort to the XNA framework, I'm wondering if anyone knows Microsoft plans for allowing us to redistribute our games for Xbox360. I'm an academic. Let's say I want to make some educational/simulation games that my students can use on the Xbox 360. Will I be able to provide them with a CD or download link in XBox live As far as I can tell so far, the only games I can write are for myself. There is no announced policy on distribution through Xbox live, so you probably shouldn't count on the availability of such a mechanism. • SQL Server Remote connection stopped working

  My new and my old applications used to work remotely without problems. Using VS 2003. Both could connect using the server name or ip address. Now neither one works now, meaning they can't connect. Message is that the server doesn't exist. I can only connect using the server name now, NOT the ip address. I even tried connection with fire wall off. • SQL Server BULK INSERT from a table

  Hi there. I have a table that contains comma delimited text, and I am trying to convert this into another table eg my target table looks like Produce|Price|QuantityPerPrice and my input table contains strings such as "apples","7.5","10" "pears","10","8" "oranges","8","6" Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this I am after a solution that does them all at once: I am currently using charindex() to find each column, one at a time, but given the speed of BULK INSERT I would much rather do it as a table. Marc Hi Marc, You're right that the SDK itself hasn't had significant churn between 5472 and 5600. As for bugs that have been fixed, etc, well... a lot I don't have a laundry list handy of everything that has been fixed, but if you have any specific questions about Media Foundation functionality you thought was broken in 5472 that you wanted to know whether it's been fixed, I can try to answer. P.S. All other things being equal, I'd definitely recommend moving on to 5600. It's nice. ...Show All

• Visual Basic extract portion of string

  I know that I have seen this before, however I have had no need to program it until now, but suppose that I have a string passed to a parameter such as "16.00,20.00,0.00". I need a way to extract the 'second' value (which would be 20.00) and assign it to a variable. The reason that this is a string is that no computations will be done on the integers and sometimes the value can be alphanumeric. Thanks for the help.
