  • Microsoft ISV Community Center Forums MS Office document and image writer print driver

Besides removing this feature from Office during setup, is there a process to remove this virtual printer from 300 users with roaming profiles on an active directory network We are having an issue with this printer assuming the "default printer" selection for our users. As a work around we have changed their default printer, but after they reboot or log off / on it has defaulted back to the MS Ofc doc and image writer printer. Hello, I have the opposite problem. I have users who have had the icon for the Office Document Image Writer deleted under Printers and Faxes. You mention above that it is easy to reinstall the virtual printer. Could you point me to the directions for reinstallation pleas ...Show All

  • Visual C++ newbie help: importing functions from a dll in a C++.net project

Hi, I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. I am trying to create a C++ application (Win32 project/application) that imports functions from a DLL. The DLL, which I did not create, is a Win32 DLL (that uses MFC in a static library). The DLL .h and .cpp files do not contain any classes. Just functions with __declspec (dllexport). I think that my problem is that I am very new to .NET (I am not sure I should post this question in a different form). Here is what I have done: I tried creating a new solution and adding the DLL project to it and then building the project (to generate the .dll file). Then I added a new project to the solution and tried to: 1-Add the dll to this project as a reference: using Project -> References -&g ...Show All

  • Visual C# Making a Send To Shortcut

I have an c# VS 2005 winform that takes file list variables via Environment.CommandLine passed from a Send To link to my application. So I need to create a shortcut to my application in the user's Send To folder. I am able to build a MSI to install my application and create the shortcut in the User's Send To Menu location but when I right click from windows explorer I do not see the short cut as a Send To target. If I simply copy the shortcut to some other location such as User's Program Menu I see the shortcut as expected in Programs start menu location, which launches my application. How can I get my Send To shortcut to show up in windows explorer right click context menu I have other questions about the nature of the shortcut and why ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions Create a UserControl

I am following a tutorial on how to open a directory and show all the pictures inside as thumbnails. Below is the last paragraph so I thought, for my purposes, I would try to create a control so that I can use it in other programs in the future. I have now done everything I need, what I don't know is how to make it a dll so can someone show me how I compile it to a dll please You can use this control in any of your projects by adding the Thumbnail control source code to it. Alternatively you can create a UserControl project that contains the finished thumbnail control and compile it to a DLL. You may then either add the compiled user control to any of your projects as a reference or add it to your toolbox and use it in the Visual ...Show All

  • Gadgets Microsoft Bob

How do I get this older software to work with XP In Windows XP you can tell the operating system to run an executable file in Compatibility Mode, which might help, but I doubt it. Microsoft Bob was designed to run in Windows 3.x and was a replacement for the windows shell. That, actually, was one of the really nice features of Windows 3.x, in that you could completely remove the user interface and replace it with your own application, and yet have all of the other underlying Windows services there at your application's beck and call. I had to do this a number of times when building pen-based applications for field use on Windows-for-Pen based machines. Replacing the shell with my applications eliminated so ...Show All

  • Windows Forms Transfer to child

  • Windows Forms Packaging Class Libraries

I have set of Strong Named Class Libraries and I need to create a package to deploy them. While Visual Sutudio, provides means to create a msi for installation, I'm trying to find out whether there is an easy way to register these assemblies in GAC after installation, and include this instruction as a part of msi. Update: As usual, the feature I was looking for, already exists in Visual Studio. Here is what I had to do... Create "Setup Project", On the File System on Target Machine Icon, right click and add Special Folder and select Global Assembly Cache Folder, Add all assemblies that are to be deployed in GAC. Thats it. That's really it. Take a look at the properties of project, before you create a package. VS eve ...Show All

  • SQL Server Performance Based Transact Coding

Hi all, I am looking for some study meaterial focussed on performance based transact SQL development. I am a fairly well seasoned (3+ years self taught), and I am getting into situations where different query constructs yield the same results, but the performance (execution time and disk I/O) varies. I have found that sometimes nested select statements execute faster than joins, but usually the opposite is true, for example, and I would like to learn why. Info would be appreciated. some food for the brains for DBA's most database performance relies on the following 1. database design (normalization) 2. Tsql Syntax. it pays to know your select, insert, update, stament indepth 3. know your index 4. know your ...Show All
