Smart Device Development ActiveSync, WM2005 and recovery
Hi, We're using RAPI to enable communication between our desktop and PPC application over ActiveSync. One of the requirements on our application is that it must be able to recover from failure, such as cable removal or similiar. This works fine with WM2003, but WM2005 doesn't appear to be able to recover as easily. The scenario is simple: open a RAPI stream, remove the USB-cable (while the stream is open) and reopen the stream. With WM2005, it will only be possible to reinitialize if our app is restarted. When attempting to reconnect after cable-removal, we will _always_ get error 0x80070015 (device not ready). This does not occure on WM2003. This is roughly what we're doing (note - pseudo code): ------------------------------- ...Show All
Visual Studio Tools for Office Generate Excel file using ASP.NET
I am currently working on a page that will generate dynamic reports for my company. These generated reports are building an excel file using C# and the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel dll. While most of this works the way I would like it to I have run into one problem. When I use Pictures.Insert() I recieve an error stating that I am not including an assembly reference. When I tracked this down, it appeared to be because I needed the office.dll in my bin folder, which fixed the compiling issue but now I get an error that says there is a vesion problem. Does anybody know why this is My server has Excel 2000 on it, if you need other information let me know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance. ...Show All
Windows Forms DataGridView not sorting by column
I have a datagridview bound to a BindingSource where the underlying list is just a generic List<T> where the List are custom business objects. All the datagridviewcolumns are text columns and have the SortMode is set to Automatic. However the sort glyph does not appear in the column header and the list won't sort. Is there anything else that I need to do to implement sorting Thanks! Thanks Mark for replying so quickly. I didn't know what it was that wasn't working correctly, the List, the BindingSource, the DataGridView, or the Business Objects, so you pointed that out for me. For anyone else having this problem, this article describes how to create SortableBindingList that works in conjunction with a DataGridView and cus ...Show All

Visual C# Adding Delegates to a method?
My question is, as I have not worked with delegates and events very often, but want to, as I need them....why is this not working System.IO.FileSystemWatcher watcher = new System.IO.FileSystemWatcher(Application.StartupPath, "*.cfg"); watcher.IncludeSubdirectories = true; watcher.BeginInit(); //watcher.Changed // System.IO.FileSystemEventHandler.CreateDelegate( watcher.Changed+=new System.IO.FileSystemEventHandler(Global.Methods.FileChanged(System.IO.FileSystemEventArgs )); I want it to realize any .cfg files that are being changed in here, and I want to add the event .changed, to be the delegate for Global.methods.filechanged... -I think I actually wrote that backwards, ...Show All

Hi folks, boy, do I hope one of you can help me out here.. I ran a test to find out if the application I am working on, also runs on a server with windows 2003. Audio and Video Development HD DVD video Authoring software
Hi: I am the thech responsible in an Authoring Studio that makes dvd-video for the major movie distributors in Portugal. We are ready to start making HD-DVD titles. My question right now is: We tested the sonic scenarist ACA software, but it was not very illucidating and the price was huge. All the titles already released are made with what software What kind of chance do we have of not buying any authoring software, and make everything just in plain language (in .NET for instance) Are there any other authoring softwares avaiable that we can test Thank you Unfortunately I'm not aware of any offerings in the market right now, but I believe that the current DVD authoring tools vendors will update their produ ...Show All
Visual Basic I can't see the "Windows Control Library" template
Hi. I wanna build a custom form, but I can't see the Windows Control Library, which is needed to build it. When I open up the Create New Project, it doesn't show. Is this feature unavailable in Express Edition Ahh, I see. Yeah, that worked. Thanks, Dave. It's this book of Evangelos Petroutsos (Mastering Microsoft Visual Basic 2005) that can give you a hard time, especially since he's so good making it hard to understand by not explaining everything in detail, especially the new codes he introduces IMHO. I'd be glad to pick up a Programming Microsoft Visual Basic 2005: The Language here in the Philippines, but the thing is...nobody's selling it, and I don't have credit card to order online. Visual Studio Tools for Office No 'Click' for CommandBarPopups, so what should I do?
I would like to have a custom menu ( CommandBarPopup ) to have it's items enabled/disabled depending on the current user selection (e.g. chart/cell). The problem I'm facing now is that there is no Click property attached to the CommandBarPopup class. I am aware of the OnAction property which can be used to call VBA code, but what is the best way to approach this This is for a COM Add-in, not for a single workbook and all the examples I've seen of using VBA are bound to a single file. The rest of my Add-in is written in C#. I was considering having a placeholding CommandBarButton that, when Click ed, would execute the required code, before making itself invisible and making the true CommandBarPopup menu visible. However, this solution is f ...Show All
