Windows Forms Nested Parentable Control
I have created a user control which contains a container control on which I want to drop other controls, however I am having trouble convincing the designer to allow it to happen. At the moment, it is just a panel (panel 1)that contains a second panel (panel 2). Panel 1 has a public property to Panel 2 which I thought would be sufficient. Can anyone help me out If you're having trouble picturing what I'm trying to accomplish, picture a TabControl with only a single TabPage. The TabPage is what actually hosts other child controls, but it is hosted by a TabControl object. Thanks Hi, answer to your first question: to do that you have to say the designer how to behave in that case. Check this page: http://bl ...Show All

I am trying to display two text boxes when the edit button is clicked. The MemberName textbox does "disappear" but the other two textboxes remain invisible. The textboxes are in a panel and I thought by inserting the control.BringToFront(), it would put the control into the panel. What am I missing using System ; using System . Collections . Thanks Ashraful Alam http://geekswithblogs.net/joycsharp There is no new sound functionality in DirectX 10. Visual Studio Team System Database Pro requires local SQL 2005 instance???
Some of the guys on our team are currently using VSTS for DB Pros.(version 2.0.50727.145) It was installed on a machine where there's a local instance of full SQL 2005. (It installed SQL Express too. We successfully can point it at the full version of SQL) We are going to remove SQLExpress and we don't want people creating DEV db's on this box. Is there a way we can point to another SQL instance on a different machine I think the answer to this question is no, atleast in the most current release. Any idea if this will change in a future release Thanks, Ron I understand there will be latency issues when validating against a remote server, but I would still prefer this option anyways. Silverlight (formerly WPF/E) Event Bubbling Problem
I can't determine if the SDK is wrong or the implementation. Here is the issue: The SDK states: " WPF/E supports the concept of a bubbled event for input events such as mouse events. A bubbled event is an event that is passed from a child object and is forwarded upwards to each of its ancestors in the object hierarchy. " But when I use the following XAML: <Canvas xmlns=" http://schemas.microsoft.com/client/2007 " xmlns:x=" http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml " Loaded=root_Loaded" MouseLeftButtonUp=buttonUp" x:Name="mainCanvas"> <Canvas x:Name="button" MouseLeftButtonUp=buttonUp"> <Rectangle x:Name="topRect" ...Show All

Visual Studio Express Editions Can't view my project
Hi, I've been working on a project for the past 2 weeks in Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition. For some reason now when I open my project I can't view any of it. I'm not sure I've explained that very well but I hope someone understands what I mean and can help. SlickRed I couldn't find it but trying to find it gave me an idea. Smart Device Development FileStream Write Timeout Read Exception
It appears from the help file that the FileStream class has an accessible "WriteTimeout" property. The write path for the file is the flash (SD) card on the device. I wrote some test code using standard FileStream and Binary Writer objects to check what the default timeout was and came up with the exception listed at the foot of this message in response to the code below. The code is for a Pocket PC under the .Net Compact Framework 2.0. Why are timeouts not supported on this stream Do I need to override the "CanTimeout" property to work around this Is it because the target device is a flash memory card Note that there does seem to be some kind of inherent timeout occurring (I haven't measured it exactly but its over ...Show All
