  • Visual Studio DSL Tools Labs for RTM?

Are there any labs available for the DSL Tools RTM I'd like to use this to teach a couple of students what the DSL Tools can bring. Thanks, Dennis I would consider the walkthroughs from the help as a kind of lab. Doing the following gives you a good understanding of the DSL Tools: Walkthrough: Creating a Domain-Specific Language Solution Walkthrough: Customizing the Domain-Specific Language Definition Walkthrough: Adding Validation to a Domain Model Walkthrough: Creating and Running Text Templates Gerben. ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions form deactivates when using messagebox why? & how to work around this?

Hello, I am new to VB Express and programming. I am making a single form application and I am using the form deactivate event to signal when a user switches to another application. The trouble I am having is that when control is passed to a messagebox from within my application, the form deactivate event is triggered. Is there another event that I can use that won't trigger when a messagebox is activated but will trigger if my application loses focus or is there a way to to use the "if then" to bypass the code in the "private sub form deactivate" if control is only passing to a message box e.g. if messagebox(has focus) then dont do anything thank for any help. ...Show All

  • Visual Basic Problems with binding a combobox

I got a form where you can enter information in textboxes and i got comboboxes where i want to choose some predefined options. I binded the textboxes with the information in the database, and i am trying to bind the combobox with the database. the problem is the combobox is showing information, but not all the options that it should be. It only shows the options that have been used in the call table. Also if you change the combobox to a value that is used in the second row of the table "calls", all the comboboxes changes to a value that is used in the second row, the same happens if you change 1 combobox back. I think my problem is in the sql query here is my connection string Dim objConnection As New SqlConn ...Show All

  • .NET Development Data Relation Causing a Performance Hit???

Hi Community I’ve been profiling a WinForm app based on .NET Framework 2.0. There are a number of hot spots from profiling, some of which are obvious and some not. One of the surprises that I encounter is that happens when you create a dataset with 2 data tables and form a data relation between them and remove it. All is fine so far. But if you do it again, it suddenly takes about 80s to create and remove the data relation. Here is the data collected using AQtime, sorted by the Time with Children in descending order. (Note that I disabled profiling during the first call of these methods as take negligible time) Routine Name Time Time with Children Shared Time Hit C ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions Project folder paths

Hi, I've noticed something with Visual C# 2005 Express and wondered if it was normal or if I was doing the process incorrectly. I'm copying a Solution [using File Explorer] and giving it a new name. Then copying'n'pasting that name over the solution & project inside the solution explorer, after opening the new solution. This seems to deal with all files and paths except one, the Project Directory doesn't get changed. The project & solutions all work, however, if I try and change the project folder manually [using File Explorer again] then they stop working. Is there a way to have all the paths renamed successfully by the Visual C# 2005 Express application tia, This doesn't appear t ...Show All

  • Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. HLSL effect syntax highlighting

Hi everbody :D, I just wanted to know if it is possible to have this feature inside c# express, that way no need to always launch another application (Renderisland || Fxcomposer). By the way thank's a lot MSFT for making such cool tools and frameworks. Currently, it is not possible to get syntax highlighting for HLSL in C# Express. This is a feature that we may introduce in the future. No promises, though. --Stephen ...Show All

  • SQL Server SSIS Data Flow task fails to load all text from flat file

Hi Guys, I have a flat file which is loaded into the database on a daily basis. The file contains rows of strings which I load into a table, specifically to a column of length 8000. The string has a length of 690, but the format is like 'xxxxxx xx xx..' and so on, where 'xxxx' represents data. So there are spaces, etc present in the middle. Previously I used SQL 2000 DTS to load the files in, and it was just a Column Transformation with the Col001 from the text file loading straight to my table column. After the load, if I select len(col) it gives me 750 for all rows. Once I started to migrate this to SSIS, I allocated the Control Flow Task and specified the flat file source and the oledb destination, and gave the output column ...Show All

  • SQL Server Problem with Gray Scale Plaette

Hi, I'm attempting to constrct a bar chart with the Gray Scale Plaette. All the other plaette works fine. However, for the gray scale one, the patterns just go random. It doesn't follow the legend. Have I done something wrong here If there is no way to get around this, can I construct one manually Just wonder how can I do that, cos I want to get some report printed out. Thanks, Josh The problem is say I have a graph with a default palette.  I view the graph, and I have three different colors - one for series 1, one for series 2, one for series 3.  The legend has three items, with three different colors, one for each series. Then I change the graph to grayscale without changin ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Express Editions Passing data between a DLL and an .exe

Using the application wizards in Visual Studio Express 8.0 (with C++) I created a solution with 2 projects, the output of these projects are "MyMath.dll" and "GUI1.exe". MyMath is built from "MyMath.h", "MixedNum.h", "MixedNum.cpp" and some ancillary files like "Stdafx.h", "AssemblyInfo.cpp" and "Stdafx.cpp". GUI1 is built from "Form1.h", "GUI1.cpp" and ancillary files. I have a single class named "Fraction" defined in MyMath. MyMath contains the math functions I am defining and GUI1 is the Windows interface. Data is input through this windows form and the result is output through the same form. I intend to run these as sepa ...Show All

  • Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Runtime model loading

I am trying to make a level editor with XNA. Unfortunately, I've run into a little snag. I need to load a model from a user chosen location, but as far as i know models need to be first loaded into the programming solution before they can be loaded through the content manager. Is there anyway to do this at runtime fora model thats not part of the solution I've looked at this problem too. I experimented and found that all you really need is to build the 3d model into the format recognized by the Content Pipeline. When you run your app, you get .xnb files that you then load using ContentManager.Load<Model>("mymodel"). Since you can type what you want into model name parameter, you can dynami ...Show All
