• Visual C++ Slowdown with MSVC memory operations

  After some line by line profiling of my code with a profiling tool, I noticed that the MSVC implementations of new, delete, memcpy, and memmove seems to slow down on a per-call basis the more they're called. My question is the following: is the only way to get rid of this bottleneck to override the default new/delete operators with my own custom implementation and possibly restructure my code or are there some compiler settings available in MSVC that I can try playing around with My code is basically a single-threaded RUDP-esque library, and it's memory-leak free, and the amount getting moved/allocated/copied is always less than or equal to 1030 or so bytes. • Visual Basic Passing variable from form1 to form2

  How can I accomplish this. Form1 has my working code. I've dim'd tmpfrm2 as new form2. When I use tmpfrm2.show() it indeed shows me form2, however I need to be able to pass a variable to the code in from2 for form2's code to act on. In this case it is a file name that is picked from a listbox in form1. form2 will then use that name as a new bitmap image and place it into picturebox1.   How do I place example code in a code file that is language specific. • Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Heightmap Collision testing

  This question has been mocking me all day. I know it's doable, I have even used such a function somewhere long ago, and I have even found quotes of people saying "the calculation is easy and quick," however, I cannot find an example of heightmap collision testing. In other words, I want to be able to type MyLandscape.GetHeight(x,z) and it'll return the height (y) at that point. Now, this is not a simple, find the vertex at (x,z), and return the array value. There is distance between each vertex so, (x,z) wouldn't always be a vertex location. If I recall my calculus from ages ago, I think I remember there being a way to do this, but I don't remember. • Visual Studio CTC constant for "Test Results" context menu?

  I'm trying to find the constant that I need in my CTC file to add my own item to the context menu in the Test Results pane. However, there don't seem to be any such constants defined in the header files found in the VS SDK's VisualStudioIntegration\Common\Inc, or the example found in VisualStudioTeamSystemIntegration. • Visual Studio Express Editions database tables doesn't update

  Hi. I have few tables in my database and they don't want to update. I changed database property "copy to output directory" to copy if newer. Then after I'm inserting data in my database everything works but changes doesn't show in the tables. Below u can see part of my code, I'm using Insert, Fill and Update. I can compile program over and over again and changes stay but when I open "Show table data" everything is going back to beginning.   I need to delete folders from my drop directory of my web site. My Web Deployment App copies everything over from my ‘Binaries’ folder. I have the code below that deletes the files I’ve specified, but not the directories. • Visual Studio AssemblyInfoTask weird behavior

  Good day, lately I've been using the AssemblyInfoTask for my version automation, I've changed the default settings so that the build version will increase one per build, and the rest always stays the same. But it seems to behave quite strange actually. When I was checking it in the beginning it increased nicely, but for example yesterday my build was 55 when I started that project for the first time that day, I didn't build much that day, approx. three or four times, but when I checked today my build was suddenly 99. I'm sure I didn't build my program 44 times yesterday. • Windows Live Developer Forums No maps in 3d view!

  Hi I recently upgraded my VE code to v4, and whilst the 2d stuff still works perfectly well (even the Birds' Eye View works fine), all i get in 3D view is a green blur (i.e. just the globe) regardless of my zoom level. It doesn't matter where i look at in the world - whether it be here in the UK or anywhere in the US. It's almost as if the 3D tiles aren't loading, as the navigation control and the orientation widget are both present. I just can't see any details on anything - very frustrating! The 3D examples on the maps.live.com (i.e. Tower of London and the Millennium Wheel) do exactly the same thing, so it's not my code at fault. • Visual Basic A very strange incident... and strange question.

  Well I was working on a MS-Access 2003 project that has a bit of VB code that executes once a certain text box loses focus. When it loses the focus it calculates a couple of lines of code. Everything worked fine. Now for some reason it seems to crash, when I debug it, it goes to a line where the following happens 'cPrice get's a value on the form e.g. R150.00 'iWeight get's a value from the form as well e.g. 5t tTax = cPrice / iWeight But it keeps stalling there, VB auto casts it's types if I am not mistaken, so anyone any ideas why this keeps failing What types are cprice, iweight and ttax if they are decimal, the division can cause exceptions for overflow or division by zero.   Hi... ...I've built an Iterface for a piece of hardware. This Interface has got a section with some information (another form dedicated to it). Now, when I open the info section a new form is opened. If I go back to the main form and I press the button again, which open the Info form, the form is brouhgt on front [used Info.Active ()] but it the Info form was minimized the form is only activated and focus is given to it but is not displayed!
