.NET Development Memory usage with DataSet
Hi All, I need some advise regarding this. I got a table in database that contains two fields, MSISDN (mobile number) and flag. I got 150000 mobile numbers and I have to send sms to these numbers. I created a timer which runs every minute to check whether there is any new message to be sent. If there is, then it picks up and sends it. Now, when it finds a message, it calls a function in which returns a dataset containing table of 150K numbers and flag values (default = 0;message not sent to this number). It then loops through each row of the table, picks up the mobile number and sends the sms. It the sending is success, then it calls the function that updates the flag in the database of that MSISDN to 1; message sent. Now, the memory usage ...Show All
Windows Forms How to change the Text Size of the WebBrowser control?
I would like to change the Text Size of the WebBrowser control (.NET 2.0). The control doesn't provide the function itself. I have found information that it has to be done like this: ((UnsafeNativeMethods.IWebBrowser2)webBrowser.ActiveXInstance).ExecWB(19, 2, 0); The problem is that UnsafeNativeMethods is a static class of the Windows.Forms.dll assembly. Thus I am not able to cast the object to the correct Interface. How can I extend the WebBrowser control to support the changing of the browser text size emmm,do in this way~ private void webBrowser1_DocumentCompleted( object sender, WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e) { this .webBrowser1.Document.Body.Style = " ...Show All
Visual Studio Invalid DOS Path Error - Unable to Open VSS database
Hi our network has recently changed the network mapping of a shared drive where our VSS database is located. This has caused the VSS program to complain a dos path error. I tried remapping the database to the new path where the srcsafe.ini is located but I had no luck. The new path is somewhat similar to the one below \\hr.serv.acme.com\hr-shared-drv\application\vss\srcsafe.ini previously it was: \\hrserv34-v3\application\vss\srcsafe.ini Previously we had no problems. I've checked the permissions and no problems there. What could have been made wrong I'm running VSS v 6.0d on Windows NT. Can anybody send me a comprehensive list of probable root causes Do you have read/write access to the shared drive Can you create a file in the dat ...Show All

Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) How to keep a Popup aligned with a Control
My scenario is the following: I want to show a Popup below a TextBox for giving help informations. The problem is that the (opened) Popup stays at the same location when i move the parent Window or the TextBox (through animation). My question: Is it possible to keep the Popup aligned with the TextBox so that it stays below the TextBox even if i move the window Through databinding or something like that (A tooltip is not an option for me.) Well as I have read other posts and help files, I have come to the conclusion there is no other way to do it but manually. You will have to use the Popup's .HorizontalOffset and .VerticalOffset properties in conjunction with the container/window that is being "moved/dragged". &nbs ...Show All

Visual Studio Express Editions Let's go to work on an FAQ for this Forum
The concerted work that goes on here in really impressive. I'm also thinking about a mass mailed note I received from S. Somesegar, corporate VP of Microsoft development. He said that MS Engineers were not alone in building VS2005. Customers had a lot to do with it to make it as neat as it is. Continuing in that vein, I though it may be a contribution to see if we can't put together an FAQ that will take care of a large number of the routine questions. If you'd like to contribute to this let's try the following: In a post to this thread, add: 1.) A Title 2.) A fully stated question in FAQ form 3.) The best answer you can come up with. After a while.... We'll all review this and see if w ...Show All

Windows Forms Include the parent control when a child is cut / copied and pasted.
Hi all, This is the final step in what became a rather involved process. The big picture is that I need to present a container control at design-time which does NOT clip its children. So yeah, I want for instance a child button control to be able to draw beyond its parent's bounds. I've gotten it to work by implementing an "envelope / hub" mechanism, where the hub is the above-mentioned container, and the envelope is its parent, another container which sizes itself to envelop the hub. When the user needs to "float" (ie. un-clip) the child button, it gets re-parented to the envelope and now has free reign to paint over the hub's bounds. All that to say, I have one final problem: when the hub is cut to clipboard, ...Show All
SQL Server How to Link to an existing SQLExpress 2005 table from Access 2003
I initially created an Access application within Access 2003 which I subsequently migrated to SQLExpress 2005 (Tables only) using Microsoft SQL Migration Assistance for Access 2003 (SSMAA) and continue to use Access 2003 as a front end, this really was easy and worked perfect. Now I added a new table to my SQLExpress DB and need to link to it from my Access application but can not find a way to do so in the same way that the SSMAA does. I need to run the Access 2003 application in share mode from multiple PC in the LAN. If I try linking to the table using an ODBC connection I can only access from the PC where the link was done! Any ideas THanks in advance. Hello Hristo, First off thank you for replying. Although you have a good ide ...Show All
.NET Development Hiding inherited members from view...
Is there a way to downright hide an inherited member without destroying it. Say I derive from a base class and my derived class wants to hide certain members that are public in the base class. How shall I do this Thanks, Devin Devin, exactly what are you trying to accomplish here If you want to "hide" the method from intellisense so it doesn't show up in the autocomplete list in visual studio, you can shadow the method and put a EditorBrowsableAttribute(False) on the method/property. As Luc points out, it is not possible to prevent users from being able to call methods of your base class (for example by casting an instance of your object to the base class) Best regards, Johan Sten ...Show All
Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Mesh file with texture?
I have a .x file, which loads fine in the DirectX viewer. The viewer shows the model with texture. So am I right in saying that the .x file has texture within it If so, how do I get at it So far I've only been able to load the mesh and render some random texture on it from a JPG. this .mesh = Mesh .FromFile( @"..\..\Content\Models\" + meshPath, MeshFlags .Managed, device); You’ll have to use the other mesh loader, the one that uses the extended materials, that’s where the texture file name is held. Mind you, generally it’s only the file name so you’ll have to splice the path so you get the full path. Have a look at Tutorial 6 in the samples section on how to extract the data. ...Show All
