  I'm seeing some odd behavior with ExternalDataExchange and wondered if I was seeing the correct behavior or what. I have an app and workflow that share data objects (versus serialized XML or something). The objects, being reference types, are created on the heap and therefore are available to objects running in the same AppDomain. The issue is I expected to see the objects serialized when passing between app and workflow (or back again) such that I would have two different instances of the objects being passed. To me, this was the architectural point of ExternalDataExchange. But that's not what I'm seeing. • Internet Explorer Development IE7 and desktop icons

  I just installed Internet Explorer 7 today, which I guess is a.k.a. Windows Live . All of my fancy customized shortcuts on the desktop disappeared and each got replaced by the same generic windows icon. Right-clicking & changing the icons in properties no longer works. Also, when I create an internet shortcut while browsing, that creates a shortcut with that same generic icon (not even an explorer logo). Now my desktop is just one forest of identical icons. Anyone know how I can fix this I've wasted all day without success. • SQL Server AVG MDX Function

  I have been trying to solve a calculated measure using both the sum/count methods and the avg function, but neither is working for the result that I want. We are trying to come up with an average course score based on an average test score. Example: user takes two tests (test1 twice for 50% and 100% - avg = 75% test2 once for 100%) and the course average would be (75+100)/2 = 87.5%. In our MDX we are getting (50+100+100)/3 = 83.33% instead. We do have a hierarchy set based on course-->test-->test iteration where test iteration is each individual score. The overall average works the way you would typically thing with the sum/count method, but not based on how we want it to calculate AVG(AVG(test1 scores) + AVG(Test2 scorces)). I t ...Show All

• Visual Basic hiding the startup form

  Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to immediately hide the startup form on startup. The Me.visible = False and Me.hide() Methods don't work. I am trying to make a simple program that has a login form and the main form. When my program starts i want the login screen to appear and the main form to immediately disappear, then when the user clicks OK the login screen closes and the main form shows. Everything works except when the program runs both the login and the main form window appear and i can't seem to make the main form disappear, and for other reasons setting the login form as the startup form is not an option. • .NET Development Unable to write file with StreamWriter after replacing explorer as shell.

  Hi, everyone. We have an application that we are using to replace explorer.exe as a user's shell. The application runs in a manufacturing environment, is the only thing that we want to run on the machine. We are trying to write to plain-old text files from the application using the StreamWriter for logging purposes. If we set explorer.exe as the shell and then start the application from within explorer it writes the logs with no problem. Now, if we replace explorer with our applicationa s the shell, then no logs are written. Even if we then start explorer.exe after our application has started, still no logging. • Gadgets Cannot add a gadget to sidebar

  Hello, I have the dutch version of windows ultimate vista. When i try to put a gadget from http://gallery.microsoft.com i can not add it to the sidebar. Ive download it install it but it's not visible in windows sidebar/gadget map and it will not appear on the sidebar. What i'm doing wrong. The second thing is that i can install the harddrive meter but it appears on the sidebar as a white square. Thnks for your help.   Hello! I am using T-SQL (SQL Server 2000). I would like to get error message (for example stored in some string variable) when error appeares. I found only system variable @@error which holds the error number of the specific error. But I didn't find any way to get a message which is written in SQL Qery analyzer in the Message window beneath the query window.
