• Visual Studio Team System what happens to the old WIs after using witimport.exe?

  I have an existing team project with a number of work items in the Bug list. We have decided to change the tracking flow significant and have come up with a new bug template. I know I can import it into the existing project using witimport.exe. HOwever, can I still open the existing bug items in either the old or the new UI given that many fields have changed (dropped some and added new ones) When you import the new WIT, everything will work just fine. When you will open existing work item and make any edit to it at that time you will have to make all the necessary changes to make it valid based on the customization made to the WIT. • Visual Basic Comm port communications

  I'm using serial communications to receive inputs from 6 barcode readers to one comm port. I have an oncomm event that takes just under 2 seconds to complete. If i receive another oncomm event within that time, it starts another oncomm event on top of the first one. I have had some problems with this code and think it might be related to this. My first question is is this second oncomm event interupting the first event and stopping it from completing and if so, is there a way around this. My second question involves a possible solution, which is after the oncomm event starts and i read the information from the port, can i then close the port until the 2 second code has finished and then open the port back up, thus avoiding the possible con ...Show All

• Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. A FPS game??

  I am wondering if the xna game studio is powerful enough to make a FPS game such as HL2 or Halo. Now I assume that none of us could re create such master pieces but would it be easier to make a FPS shooter in XNA game studio using C# or direct x using C++. I know visual basic like the back of my hand (who doesn't) and C# is a whole lot easier to learn than C++ so which would be easier and better. I know C++ is more powerful blah blah blah but i meen how much of a performance difference is C# and C++ for a video game I would say that for games on the PC C++ is better. • Software Development for Windows Vista Missing Persistence Schema RC2

  I have installed the most recent release canidate for windows workflow. I went to add the default persistence service to my workflow and discovered that the schema files do not exist on my computer (in fact in the C:\WINDOWS\WinFX\v3.0 directory, there are only two folders WinFX Runtime Components 3.0 - Beta 2 and WPF and both are empty). I have installed the RC on 3 machines, and all three are the same, so I don't feel reinstalling will fix the problem. I have tried the installer that came with the labs (in C:\Windows Workflow Foundation\Labs\SQL_Scripts\Lab03 I ran CreateDatabaseObjects.cmd) and the installer did not work.   Hi there, I was wondering if there is a way to have the ClickOnce UI present a link or message of some kind when prompting the user to update I have my own well-oiled custom auto update solution using .NET 1.x, and it is able to show a link to a 'ReadMe' or 'What's New' page when giving the user the option of upgrading. This allows the user to judge whether they want to update at that time or not based on the description of the update. • Visual Studio Team System BVT's without Team System Tester Edition - Possible?

  I'm trying to create a Team Build that will run all my unit tests as part of the build. The problem is though, when going through the wizard it allows me to select the vsmdi file, but there is no test lists available in the drop-down (and since I don't have team tester edition I don't think I can create new test lists). We can still run the tests in our Team Software Dev Edition, is there a way to make a Team Build that will also run all the tests as part of the build process without purchasing Team Tester Edition Thanks for the feedback - I've actually been pushing hard for something like this since we first hit the problem in the beta days, so this will help me build a stronger case.   What I need to know for my next programme is how to get it so that you have a textbox and you start typing in it, it says "hello" or whatever I want it to say no matter what the user types. • .NET Development asp.net 2 assign queryresultset to array

  I have a query that returns all values from one field for the req_id specified I need to put the result into an array so that I can then assign individual values to textboxes. There will never be more than 8 values. Tried using dbreader but that would only take one value from field. I tried something similar to what you suggest which works to a point. the query returns 8 values I have tested it on server.   Q1: How I can delete build from TeamBuildTypes folder I guess I can't edit build in visual editor after it's created... Never mind - I found the answer on this one (Version Control is micromanaging...) Q2: When I am running through Create Build Wizard - as soon as I get to the options it won't let me proceed untill I uncheck "Run tests" checkbox. Why It allows me select proper test metafile but I can't see anything or edit in test list listbox and Next button is disabled...   I have a school project, hope that you can help with my extra credit. I have to design a Database, which I have done but now I need to add a username and password. I have added the login form that visual studio has but now I need to validate. Which would e very easy if professor will only want 1 user and password.
