• Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. Blitting?

  I've checked through the XNA Documentation, but there doesn't seem to be any way to 'blit'. For those of you unfirmiliar with 'blit': Blit is a way to draw something. For example, say you create a "Texture2D" variable, set the size etc... But the texture is blank. The normal way to create a texture to this is to load up a bitmap image with it through the ContentManager, right But what if you want to use a whole sprite-sheet with many images Back to the blank, say, 65 x 65 bitmap image, you obviusly don't want this 2D image of the player to be a whole 1024x768 sprite-sheet. • SQL Server Efficient way of purging old data?

  I have a table with no primary key. The are 6 columns. The first four columns represent one object. There is then a status and a datetime (Updated). A new record is added into the table whenever a status changes (I need to keep the old status as well). The problem I have is how to efficiently purge old data. I need to keep all records with a datetime within the last week. I also need to ensure that I at least one status is kept for each combination of the first four columns. The table contains over 150,000 records. About 1,000 statuses change per day. I want to purge the data once a week - delete about 7,000 records. • Audio and Video Development How can I split a stream one big, one small ?

  I have a win2k3 server running media services. I use a laptop with media encoder 9, and DV cams for a live stream of ball games to the server. Here at the college, we inject our games into the local cable tv and the quality is good. I want to also allow viewers to watch the game via the internet. Here's the problem.... The stream that I'm encoding is to large to be viewed over the internet. • Visual C# Application design question - data downloads from internet

  Hi everyone, I have been wracking my brain over this and simply can't seem to think of the problem any other way. So I thought I'd look to see how other people would approach the problem. Basically, what I'm facing is this. My application is intended to provide a GUI-based way to view data that is displayed on websites. This involves screen-scraping - downloading web pages and then parsing them for the data I want (no way around that, unfortunately). I have an object designed to store the parsed data, which is stored in flat files. • Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) DLinq query performance

  Hi! I tried to do following : created database with table Order and insert 3000 rows in it. Then, i used sqlmetal to generate stuff. Then, i queried all orders with DLlinq and same thing with sqldataadapter. I used Sql server profiler to measure the execution time. And you know what - dlinq query took about 20 times longer than usual sql query (I didnt use stored procedures!). Is this normal and this is how thing are, or am I missing something here Thank You!   Hi, I'm new to asp.net web application and also socket programming. I need help on socket programming. I want to create a asp.net web application page that can connect to the server using socket and for the data access part I need to use xml for communication between the server and the client applcation. • SQL Server SQL EXPRESS TIMEOUT

  The default is sest to 15 seconds that of course is no good because it takes more than that to attact the damm database though is very small. Does any one know how to modify the connection timeout I'd try including it on the Connection String but no luck. it looks like it detaches the database after a period of inactivity.   Hi, I cant put all pushpins visibles with diferent layers. Only appear the pushpins of the last layer. I read in other thread, that it is possible save the zoom of the "biggest" layer and put this zoom for other layers, but the command GetZoom() seems dont work.   Hi, I am a long time user of Sybase and SQL Server 2000, and have been trying to get used to the new Management Studio for the past few months. I have found many situations where I ended up in the wrong database, almost ending up deleting production data, etc. At this point, I am back to pasting temporary "use DB" clauses in my edit window just make sure that I am in the right place. • SQL Server How do I determine a measure's data type in an ADOMD cellset?

  Given an ADOMD Cellset how do I determine the data type of a cell such as currency, percentage, integer, etc. I have found no way of doing this other than explicilty looking for percent signs and currency symbols which is an inheritly BAD thing to do. I've looked through the properties arrays as well as tried different DIMENSION PROPERTY settings and have not found a way to retrieve the data types.
