• SQL Server 2005Express trying to enable Full text indexing.

  We have an installation of SQL2005 Express that was loaded via the "SQL2005Express with advanced services" download .exe. Full text indexing wasn't enabled during installation. It says to go to add/remove programs. Going that route when it goes to install FTI it says that it can't find the installation files in what looks to be the origonal "TEMP" folder created and removed during installation. If I run the program installer from the download again it states that SQL is already installed and to use "add/remove programs". We are stuck at this point. • Visual Studio Minor ClickOnce issue

  Hi, It seems that if you have a ClickOnce app already installed, then later you add Crystal to the application, the end user never gets prompted to install the Crystal stuff, resulting in an exception when the app tries to access a report. If you remove the app via add/remove programs, and reinstall, then things are fine. Not sure if this is Crystal issue or not, and it's not a big deal to uninstall, reinstall, but it does seem out of place for a ClickOnce deployment. Mike Thanks for the quick reply.   i am writing an application in which it sends mail when user acknowledges something.. to make it more general.. i need to get smtp server address, but not from user.. is there any program i can write to query smtp mail address and then send mail let me know. Given an email address, for example me@somewhere.com , you can perform a DNS lookup to retrieve the MX record for the domain 'somewhere.com'. The DNS response will return the IP addresses of one or more SMTP mail servers that will accept mail for the domain. Applications like Outlook do not perform DNS MX lookups. • Visual C++ Creating a DLL - Translation between 2 DLL's

  Hi, I'm not particularly experienced with C/C++ but I have a problem: I currently have an application, which uses lame_enc.dll to encode audio into MP3 files. There is another encoder available as gogo.dll which uses ASM hand-optimised routines, and is therefore much faster. Without modifying my application, I want to create a new lame_enc.dll file which will simply pass data onto gogo.dll, and translate any settings required. Therefore giving the option to add a much faster encoding engine into my application. • Software Development for Windows Vista Shim not being applied

  We received advice that one of our applications was to have a shim supplied to ensure compatibility upon Vista's release, that no action was required our part, unless we release an update of our software, in which case we needed to address the compatibilty issue. We've not yet posted an updated version, so the compatibility solution to be supplied by Vista should still be valid, however many users are receiving errors trying to run the software. Errors that would not be relevant if the compatibilty solution was successfully implemented. • Windows Forms memory mangement in windows user control

  exposed for com interop The Application loads my control. When the user clicks on next page in Application, my control gets a release event and i call the dispose method and release all instances and set instances of objects to null. I then call System.GC.Collect() I assume everything is released from memory at this point and the user is on Page 2 in the Application. However if user decides to get back to PAge 1, my control does not even load and I assume it has to do that it has some incom,plete memory refercne to the first time it was loaded.   Hi guys, I am just trying educate myself on the usage of the Cryptography Application Block from the Enterprise Library. When you select a symmetric algorithm and then define a key file using the Enterprise Library EXE, it modifies the contents of your application's app.Config file. When examining the app.Config file, I can tell the name of the symmetric algorithm used and the location of the keyfile. Forgive my noob understanding but doesnt this pose as a security risk Since the location and the name of the symmetric algorithm are presented in clear text How does one go about protecting this type of sensitive information within the app.config file. • SQL Server Installing SQL Server Express

  I am having a problem installing SQL Server Express 2005 from the command line in that it gets part way through and then stops - no message - just terminates. After much rooting around in log files and running a normal install I'm pretty sure that it is stopping because of a warning regarding "Minimum Hardware Requirements". The laptop I'm trying to install it on is a Samsung X05, Centrino 1.4, 1gb RAM and 60gb free disk space. I've tried it on another laptop (Sony with a higher spec.) and get exactly the same problem. As far as I can see the hardware spec is well above the recommended minumum so I'm at a loss as to what to try next to overcome the problem.   Hi, I have a small problem. I have installed MSAS2005 (Analysis services) and Client components and Books online from the advanced option say machine A. I have a MSAS2005 server running on a remote machine say B. I wanted to connect to the server on B from A. When I am trying to connect I am not able to see the cubes on machine B. Things that I have done. Machine A Installed Client components, books online, Analysis services. Haven’t processed the cube. Machine B Have installed everything and have processed the cube.   Trying to install the build service, however we can't because the install wants a domain user. We installed TFS with local users for TFSSERVICE and the other users.   This is the error: Error 32003.File 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common 7\Tools\vsvars32.bat' could not be opened for write. It won't install! Can anyone help The second guess I make would be that you are running antivirus/spyware/malware software that scans files as they are created. This would temporarily lock the file and the actual installation might get problems writing to certain files like bat files (as they are considered to be executable).
