• Visual Studio Express Editions Have I choose the right programming language for my project?

  Dear all, First of all, I'm a total beginner who wished to create a software for my own small company. I read around about VB Express and SQL Express, and being free and supposedly easy, it caught my attention. Not to mention excellent forum support as well. I would like to ask for advices from the VB seniors here at Microsoft forum. I just want to make sure that VB Express will be sufficient to make a program that fulfill my desired feature: 1.Compiled as a standalone installation file. 2.Multi user capable.   Hi all I'm trying to connect to a Sybase DB using an OLE DB connection. Now, it works fine when I run the project without the package config enabled, but when I add the Sybase connection to the xml config file, & enable it the connection fails. • Visual Basic Multiple projects in one solution

  I haven't been able to figure out how to place several separate projects into one solution.  I create a lot of small demo projects that are related to a topic and have been opening them one by one in separate solution files.  Someone suggested I combine them into one solution but I don't know how to do it.  There is no option in the menu bar for adding a new project.  How can I place (or add)  my finished projects into a single solution   Also, I would need to be able to click on each one separately in the Solutions window and start it up independently of the others.   In VS solution explorer you can rightclick and add different projects (new/existing) You should be able to debug by right ...Show All

• Software Development for Windows Vista creating desktop on vista and launch IE on it

  Hi, All I run into some issue with creating a new desktop on windows vista: If I create a 2nd desktop using CreateDesktop (with NULL for security attributes), and launch an IE using CreateProcess() on the 2nd desktop from default desktop, it will be created with medium integrity level and a pop up on the 2nd desktop mentioning that Admin rights is required w/o real IE displayed. However, launch an IE using CreateProcess() on default desktop directly is OK(and in low integriy level). Then I tried launching an IE using CreateProcess() on default desktop from 2nd desktop instead, it works fine with an IE with low integrity level appeared on default desktop.   Hi All! I'm in the beginning of shaders programming. I've two shaders that renders two meshes with some nice textures effects This is my great render queue: setEffect1 drawindexedprimitive setEffect2 drawindexedprimitive Cool. Now, i want the second drawindexedprimitive to draw the mesh at the half of opacity, over the first mesh rendered with Effect1. • SQL Server Specifying DefaultValue but not showing up after deployment.

  Hi, For some reason when I deploy the report to ReportServer, the <DefaultValue> is not showing up. It does show up on the Preview though. I have 3 parameters: Start Date, End Date, Status.   I want to port a VB6 app to VB2005 while simplifying as much as possible. The current program uses multiple random access files to store data, both for user options and individual companies that are independent projects. My question is about converting multiple complex user-defined types into structures and then saving them in two files-- user options and company-specific.   Hello All, We have developed some custom tasks which we currently deploy the standard way. That is, we install the custom task assemblies in the DTS\Tasks folder and we also install the assemblies in the GAC. Due to some deployment practices we are trying to implement we would like to be able to remove the assemblies from the GAC and install them in some other location. I have tried installing the assemblies in the DTS\Binn folder, but this does not appear to be working. When I drop the custom control flow tasks onto the package's control flow tab I get the "Cannot create a task with the name ..." error. Is there a way to handle this We do not want to run pipeline for each shipping method and compute the result and present it to user.   I’m getting an OLAP connection error from reporting services when connecting to an OLAP database that exist in a different server. I can run reports from an OLAP database that exists in the RS server. Scenario 1: RS on Box1 and OLAP database on Box1 (Both Analysis services and RS in the same box) – I can run report manager from any client PC and render these reports without any issues.
