  • Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) FrameworkElement.SizeChanged not fired when Visibility changes

SizeChanged event is not fired when Visibility changes (from Collapsed to Visible). It is not really inconsistent if you considered the event is SizeChanged and not ActualSizeChanged. Size and ActualSize are not necessarily tied together, as ActualSize is a rendered size. I quote msdn: The return value of this property is always the same as any value that was set to it. In contrast, the value of the ActualWidth may vary. The layout may have rejected the suggested size for some reason. Also, the layout system itself works asynchronously relative to the property system set of Width and may not have processed that particular sizing property change yet. And I actually just checked, changing the Vi ...Show All

  • Visual Basic Apparent bug in cube root function for VB.net

I have detected what appears to be a serious bug when cube roots are taken of variables containing negative double precision numbers. I presume I'm making a mistake since I can't imagine that this bug has gone unnoticed so far. The below code is used with a form containing one button and three textboxes. X is assigned a value of 4 and Y is assigned a value of -4. Z stores, consecutively, the cube roots of X, -4 and Y which are displayed in the three textboxes. Cube roots of X and -4 are displayed correctly but the cube root of Y (-4) is shown as "NaN". The cube root of -4 using the Windows XP calculator yields the same "NaN" result on my computer. I would very much like to know how to deal with this. Thank y ...Show All

  • Microsoft ISV Community Center Forums [OTP] VBA Using combobox in Excel

H i there,   I'm working on an engineering spreadsheet (Excel) and need some help in manipulating comboboxes / dropdown list.   Say i have 2 list, where list A has the list of countries and list B has the list of cities for the country chose. If all the data source (i.e. countries and cities) are to be extracted from the Excel spreadsheet, is it possible to make list B dependant on list A (that is to say when user selects a country in list A, list B will automatically gives the respective cities) WITHOUT creating a userform If so, please advise how.   Hope you can understand what i'm trying to ask here. • SQL Server Best SSIS scripting tome?

Is The Rational Guide to Scripting SQL Server 2005 Integration Services Beta Preview by Donald Farmer the best way to learn how to use scripting in SSIS as of late 2006 I'm not a .NET developer, although I come from a Java and C++ background. I already own Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Server, but that one doesn't cover scripting so much. Thanks in advance. Donald is a frequent poster on this site. However, this question might be hard for him (and me) to answer because of conflict of interest issues. I work with Donald and I can assure you that he is quite knowledgeable in the uses, misuses and intricacies of SSIS. As one of our primary points of contact with customers he also owns a wealth of experience in typical ...Show All

  • Visual Basic Telnet a system from within VB.net

Hi, I'm trying to develop a small application which will connect to the company telephone system and send a series of commands via TelNet, giving our system a GUI. I've created a NEW instance of system.Net.Sockets.TcpClient called tcpclient, and defined a System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream. I then do tcpclient.Connect, and give it the IP address of the system and port 23. In the code below, I have put the word "host" for security - Sorry! Dim telnetclient As New Net.Sockets.TcpClient telnetclient.Connect(host, 23) ns = telnetclient.GetStream Dim line As String Dim data(1024) As Byte If ns.DataAvailable = True Then ns.Read(data, 0, 1024) line = data.ToString ...Show All
