Software Development for Windows Vista DirectShow with WindowForms
Hello, I tryed the example from http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/directshow/htm/gettingstarted.asp as an console application and everything was fine. But now I create it as WindowsForms project with VS 2005 Pro. I added a button to Form1, which executes the samplecode. I changed in the code the "printf" in MessageBox, included <dshow.h> and linked strmiids.lib, but i get the following errorcode(sorry its in german): 1>Kompilieren... 1>hallo.cpp 1>AssemblyInfo.cpp 1>Code wird generiert... 1>Verknupfen... 1>hallo.obj : error LNK2028: Nicht aufgelostes Token (0A00000E) ""extern "C" void __stdcall CoUninitialize(void)" ( CoUninitia ...Show All
Visual Studio Printing msdn2005 topic trees with collapse all option disabled
I'm grateful to Micro$oft and her great developers for msdn 2005. But there's still alot of work remaining on the print engine. Manuals and comprehensive help stuff like msdn 2005 are better read on paper than on the screen. I've found a way around the 'unfriendly mode of printing a tree of subtopics' (see my recent post on printing msdn tree topics). But how do i print the material without the collapsed '+' buttons closing up all the vital information you need to learn the fantastic .Net technologies. If you disable the collapse button on the documents pane, it has no effect on the contents pane. Maybe there's an internet explorer or jscript script i can write to enable ie to open up all the collapsed material when i choose to print a tre ...Show All

Yes, it includes the source control at the solution explorer level. .NET Development C# Lookup Local & Network Servers (Oracle & MySQL)
Hi All! I'm creating a server connection box in C# which can obtain a list of servers on the Local Network (MSSQL, Oracle and MySQL). I've successfully got MSSQL covered, but am still in need of assistance creating lists of the available Oracle/MySQL servers on the network, and have not been able to figure this out thus far. If you're aware of any methods to go about this, I'd sure appreciate your advice! Kind regards Ben The API to enumerate data sources in ADO.NET 2.0 is not very useful as it stands if only SqlClient implements it. What's the point of having an elaborately articulated set of provider classes if they don't actually provide anything I need something that can at least get ac ...Show All
Visual Studio Syntax error when using Online MSDN
Hi, I have a problem with the Visual Studio 2005 help. Every page that loads i get a "line 1 syntax error" message box. It is DRIVING ME INSANE! I have tried to repair of the Document Explorer tool. I have looked for updates or KB articles and i can't find anything. I have tried turning off IE debugging but just the shape of the message box changes (and it doesn't ask me to debug), and the syntax error moves to line 2. A sample source for the page starts with XML so i thought that might be the cause but I am running the latest updates. Has anyone else had this problem Thanks in advance for any tips, Nathan I also have this problem, precisely as you describe it. Windows XP using IE7 for me, and ...Show All
SQL Server Show Monthly,Quarterly, and YTD revenue
Hi All Experts, I need to show a result of a revenues total for Monthly,Quarterly, and YTD of a given sales person by a given period. e.g Period : 7-1-2006 to 8-1-2006 Sales Person Monthy Quarter YTD SalesPerson1 $1999 $10000 $100000 SalesPerson2 $1999 $10000 $100000 How can i do that Thanks in advance. It shouldn't be any worse than any other method. The calendar table is very small, so the join to it should not be very costly. Then it is just a matter of grouping. If you have too much data like this, then I would probably suggest going to an olap solution using Analysis Services, though I wouldn't know how to manually write that code in MDX :) ...Show All

Windows Forms Datetimepicker haschanges
Hi All, I'm using a datetimepicker control on a form page displaying database records. I use an adapter and fill on form load. I have a form_closing event to catch unsaved changes with the .haschanges property. To get around the nullable problem with the datetimepicker, I use the checkbox. It's not great but it works and I'm fine with that. The problem I am having is that the control always sets .haschanges to true if a record is selected, though unchanged. I know it is the datetimepicker control because if I remove it I don't see this problem. Thanks in advance. ...Show All
Visual C# C#, VB6 or Borland C++
Hello all, I am part of a team of a new company, and we are fighting on what language to use. What are the advantages of C# over all the others. I need hard arguments to make them use C#. Thanks If you're having to fight to use C# over VB6 or Borland C++ then I'd recommend leaving the company and working for a company where you don't have to waste so much time. You can say that one of the big advantages of C# and .NET is that it's very easy to accommodate modern versions of the other two languages you mentioned (VB.NET and C++/CLI) once you're working in the .NET framework. Visual Studio Determine Number of Pages on Report
I have a custom print/export feature on my webform instead of the built in ReportViewer controls. This allows me to print/export with MS AJAX. The CRV outputs javascirpt in the page load event which doesn't play well with MS AJAX. My code allows the user to optionally input FirstPage and LastPage to print. If FirstPage is blank then default to 1 If LastPage is blank then default to N. I can't figure out how to get the number of pages out of CR. I tried setting N to zero (0), but that seemed to output the entire report no matter what the value of FirstPage is. Any ideas on determining the CR page count. I did see this post http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=560381&SiteID=1 but this doesn't work with my report ...Show All

Visual Studio The ubiquitous "A data source instance has not been supplied..."
I have a simple report based on a Project business object. I've dragged and dropped a reportviewer control and a bindingsource, named "ProjectBindingSource" control onto my form. I dragged and dropped several fields from the Project business object onto my .rdlc report form. In the code called before refreshing the reportviewer, I've attempted to set the datasource property of the ProjectBindingSource via the following statements: Project aProj = Project.GetProject(projID); ProjectBindingSource.DataSource = aProj; Single-stepping through the code, aProj gets populated with the project information in the first statement and it should be bound to the report via the ProjectBindingSource; however, I'm still getting a "A ...Show All
