Visual Studio Team System TFS Product Key
I originally had TFS Trial installed, and have since purchased the Team Suite MSDN that comes with TFS Workgroup Edition. How do I get the product key for the workgroup edition so I can update the trial license Hi Keith, Yes indeed. The trick is to remeber to perform a repair once the upgrade process (having entered the key) has successfully completed. Simply go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, and this time perform a repair of the TFS. This action will create the necessary TEam Foundation Licensed Users group. Thereafter simply add domain accounts (max 5 of course) to this group and all is back to normal. The article at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404852.aspx describes this process. regards ...Show All

For example, if user enter " I would like to make an appointment on 12 Jun 2006", i want my system to automatically detects that there's a date in that particular string. How is that possible to do so . I have tried using the .Contain() method but it wanted me to pass in the value. but i do not want to pass in any value. I just want to detect that there's a date therefore i am able to extract the date out and do something else with it. Thanks alot George. Visual C# COM object returning a null object reference to a C# client
My C# client has a reference to the com server that contains CPipingModelEx. Here is the method of the COM interface that is returning a null pointer: STDMETHODIMP CPipingModelEx::GetElement(IPipingElementEx **pIElement) { HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_PipingElementEx, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_IPipingElementEx, reinterpret_cast<void**>(&pIElement)); return hr; } The CoCreateInstance method succeeds and I have a vaild interface created. IPipingElementEx **pIElement is declared as an [out, retval] in the IDL file. Upon return from this method, the return value in the calling method is NULL. Visual C# Passing values into EventArgs when a button is clicked
I am currently building a shopping cart application using C # in VS2005 where there are 10 items to select from. There are 10 "Add to Cart" buttons, when clicked, will trigger a single method. That single method will either add a row (new item), or update the quantity (old item). In my existing code, i loop through each row in the DataSet to determine whether i should add a row or update a row. Is there a way to store the item information (name, description and price) in EventArgs so that when the "Add to Cart" button is clicked, the item information is passed to the single method using EventArgs I am aware that i can create my own EventArgs class that inherits the EventArgs class but is there any way to store my it ...Show All
Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) XBAP not loading dll once published.
I usinng the latest .Net 3.0 installations with VS 2005 on a xp sp 2 box. The app is being published to a window 2003 server with the .net 3.0 runtime components installed. When i pull the app in the browser, it begins to act like it is going to work and starts to download the files but it fails and gives me this error in the log: Downloading http://myserver/xbox/XBox_1_0_0_0/XBoxClient.dll did not succeed. - The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. What is strange is i can navigate to pull up everyother file in XBOX_1_0_0_0 folder but i can't pull up the dll eventhough it is physically there. TIA Brian *.deploy maps to application/octet-stream. Visual Studio Team System Security Templates
Hi The default group "Contributors" that is created is almost perfect for our needs when setting privileges for our developers. However, we do no want them to be able to edit the files in the TeamBuildTypes folder, since those files are for our build team only. It turns out however that I cannot remove the privileges for the Contributors group set on that folder. I do not wish to use an explicit deny on them if that can possibly be avoided since a person can be a member of both dev team and build team and an explicit deny overrules all other persmissions. So, basically, what is my best option here Since mimicking all the privileges manually will take an enormous time for each new team project I would be happy if there ...Show All
Visual Studio Express Editions Shouldn't the Express Editions be Integrated?
Salute to all of the folks who contribute the answers here. I have loaded VB and SQL Server. I was under the impression that the versions would be more integrated and running together as one application. Did I miss something during the installations from CDs Everything runs stand-alone. Each application has its own splash screen at startup, which lists "installed applications" or something like that. All I see is the name of the current application. Should I be seeing all of the Express Visual applications that I have installed on my machine or not Sometimes I get connect/disconnect problems with SQL databases while running VB if I open them or have them already open with SQL SMSE. I just have to pay attention to what i ...Show All
Visual Studio Consuming MSSCCI plugin - calling SccInitialize
Hi I'm trying to write an editor (in C#) that would be able to connect to source control using MSSCCI, much like Visual Studio does. I've started by importing SccInitialize method from the VSS plugin C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual SourceSafe\ssscc.dll. I can call SccGetVersion() and it works fine, but when I call SccInitialize, it returns -15 ( #define SCC_E_NONSPECIFICERROR -15). SccInitialize populates and returns lpSccName (puts "Source Safe" there) and lpAuxPathLabel (puts "Source Safe Database" there). Is there anything special I have to do to consume VSS plugin from my custom code Is there a requirement for a license My code is below. Thanks for help. [ DllImport ( "C: ...Show All
SQL Server Maintenance Wizard error...
Hi, I'm just trying to use the Maintenance Wizard for the first time, but the SQL Server Management Studio shows me an error message about 'Agent XPs' is not running on my server; and I should activate it through 'sp_configure' I've tried to understand 'sp_configure' by searching it on MS TechNet, etc. But of course, because I'm not a SQL Server expert user; I don't even know how to use 'sp_configure' at all.... Anyone know how to work this thing around Appreciate all the help... PS: I almost forgot to mention, that I'm using MS Windows Small Business Server R2 2003 with SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition. sp_configure is used to view/change global settings for the current server. Audio and Video Development Playback Video Rotation
(no not the same as the other post) I have a question, When is MP going to have the ability to simply rotate the playback image of videos. No two home theaters are the same, nor is every video produced "upright". I make videos from the air via remote controlled aircraft. then stick my SD card into my computer and review my days videos.. but my camera lays 90 deg on its side. so my videos are sideways.. it would truly be nice (I thought MP11 would finally have it) if there were the ability to simply rotate video in MP. not edit or perminately alter the video.. let editing programs do that.. just simply affect the playback at 0 90 180 and 270 deg. Sometimes I use Nvidia's Nrotate to actually rotate my screen.. but that ...Show All

Internet Explorer Development session cookies in IE7 not working
I have a website I've developed and I'm having problems with IE7 recognizing the session cookies. It worked in the earlier version of IE, it works in all other browsers. I've changed the setting in IE7 to "Accept All Session Cookies" and it still won't work. Is there something I need to do differently with my coding to accomodate the new IE7 session cookie standards Here is my code to set the session cookies: if(isset($_POST['Submit'])) { if($_POST['pUsername']=="$op_email" && $_POST['pPassword']=="$op_password") { $query="SELECT other_parent_first_name, parent_id, op_email, op_user_level FROM parent_units WHERE op_email='$op_email' AND op_password='$op_password'"; ...Show All
SQL Server XML Bulk Load Question
Is it possible to execute SQLXMLBulkLoad directly in a stored procedure, similar to Bulk Insert The documentation says of the Execute method that it " Bulk loads the data by using the schema file and data file (or stream) that are provided as parameters." but never really describes what those parameters are.
