• Visual C++ wstring behaves different from string for empty char constant.

  It is kind of funny that an empty char constant is not allowed (compiler error) but an empty wide char constant is allowed. In other words, char c = '' // is an compiler error but wchar_t c = L'' // compiles and runs fine I was using this to assign to a string and found that this causes different behavior for an empty string of char vs an empty string of wide char. So for example, wchar_t c = L''; wstring str; str = c ; cout << str.empty() // this would print 0 Not sure if this is a bug or is it expected behavior.   I'm using this rtbText.SaveFile(currentFile, Word.WdSaveFormat.wdFormatDocument) it saves it ok but when I try to open it in word it ask if it can install a converter I click No then the document is shown but now whan I click save it ask tells me that it will save it as a text document. • Visual Studio Team System CodePlex and Source Control Issue

  Hi, I have had no problems with the VS2005 plugin integration, have been able to add, check-out, check-in, etc, until today. I accessed another solution from a local (LAN) VSS database, which I have since closed.  And now when I connect to CodePlex project, I can see the project including loading the Source Control Explorer, but right clicking on ANY folder or file pops up a context menu saying "No commands available", and the entire SCE toolbar is also disabled. How do I re-enable the menu items   I'm assuming the Source Control plug-in is pointing to the local VSS database instead of the TFS plugin.  How do I change that Bit of extra info...  the files I'm working on are CodeSmith template files and are th ...Show All

  wf newbee question. Code activities work as expected, double click takes you to the code behind. Things like "ifelse" or "while" activities seem to have no way to get to the code behind. What gives Shouldn't they all work the same if they have code Because unlike the codeactivity - those activities can be hooked up to a RuleCondition or even a custom condition. I *suppose* they could detect if you had already created the delegate - but IMO RuleCOnditions are much more powerful - since they are easier to change , they are stored in a seperate file - and they lend themselves to XAML activity scenarios where code conditions don't. ...Show All

• SQL Server Msg 8621: The query processor ran out of stack space during query optimization

  I got the above error when I tried to execute the following query delete from BUSINESS_ASSOCIATE where ba_name is null As you can see the query isn't exactly complicated. What the table does have is lots of dependancies. I got SSMS to show me all the dependancies and there are literally hundreds (maybe thousands - I'm not going to count them all) of dependant tables and i suspect that is what is causing the problem. So what do I do about it This is a valid data-model (industry standard in fact) but SQL won't let me delete data from this table and that's a huge problem for me.   We are trying to publish a group of financial reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. We have hit a snag when we try to render the reports in PDF format. The leading spaces of each line are stripped in the output file.   Hi everyone, I've been struggeling with this problem for some time now. I'm starting from 4 image objects of 24bpp with a resolution of 300dpi. Then I have to save these object into 1 Tiff-file with the following specifications: Multi-page Tiff Black&white Group4 compression 1bpp Must maintain the dpi-settings of the original Image object (300dpi) I found a sub, that converts an Image object to a black&white 1bpp image object, but there are two problems: It's too slow (1.5sec/image on a fast computer) It changes the dpi-settings to 96dpi At the moment, I just reset the resolution to 300dpi and save the file to disk. • SQL Server Deadlock problem? 3 way conditional split of data from one table to another never completes

  I have a source table which I'm splitting 3 ways based on a column value, but the target is the same OLE DB destination table. One conditional path is to a Multi-Cast two way split to same OLE DB gestination table. The default split is to a flat file for logging unknown record types. For a test I have data for only the 3 column values I want, but I'm having trouble with the process completing. If I pre-filter the data going into the source table by one or two values I can get the process to complete even if one split is to the multicast.
