  Hi! I have wanted to make a game for some time now... and I never really wanted to put much time into it until now. I have the whole game drawn out on paper (classes, skills, the way the networking works) but never got around to implementing it. I have been playing with this XNA GSE and have a car that I can drive around a track. Hopefully I will have more soon. I would like to "build up" to my main goal which is the game I was talking about before, but that includes animation which I am waiting for a nice example/tutorial for. • Windows Forms Controlling WMP via Windows Forms just like in MS keyboards

  Hi. I've done a lot of searching in MSDN/Google for doing remote controlling via Windows Forms. I wanted to be able to control the playback of Windows Media Player just like if I do it with Fn+Media key to press or one of the 4 media player keys in Microsoft keyboards. I am wondering how they do it as I have included two simple buttons, Play and Stop -- nothing else. So because I don't want to embed Windows Media Player control into Windows Forms application, I wanted to be able to remotely control the real Windows Media Player. • SQL Server Configure a Child Package to use the configuration file of a Parent Package?

  Hi guys, Here's the deal. I have a child package, (say, pack01.dtsx), which uses a dtsconfig file for its connection string, which can be called from other packages, but which also can be called by itself. However I also have another package (say, pack02.dtsx) which uses the same dtsconfig file for its connection string. It calls on pack01.dtsx. When I use DTEXECUI and run pack01.dtsx, specifying the proper .dtsconfig file, it goes well. But when I try and run pack02.dtsx, an error occurs saying pack01.dtsx connection cannot be established. • Visual C# exposing a C# DLL's members to non .NET apps

  Hi, I posted this in another forum (slightly different question though) and the answers I recieved weren't very helpful. Basically, I need to create a C# DLL who's members can be accessed by a non .NET application (it's a Windows program called Extend). Now I was able to write one in C++ and have it's members be exposed using extern "C" int __declspec(dllexport), but so far have been unsuccessful in doing so in C#. Is it even possible I don't believe it is. In order to call a method inside a C# class you'll have to start up the .NET runtime which might not even be running in the other app. Furthermore even in C++ you can't really expose a C++ class member (which is all a C# method is) directly. ...Show All

• Visual Studio Team System Extremely slow reloading of project with CTP4

  Hello, I've got a project that's rather large; about 3-4000 objects. I spent the better part of a few days either fixing errors in the error list or removing the offending procs/tables temporarily to at least get a clean project. Now I have it with no errors, but opening up the project takes (and i'm not exaggerating here) roughly 3 1/2 to 4 hours(!) My machine, while not brand new, is no dog either. 2.8Ghz with 2GB of RAM. I'm going to have a co-worker tomorrow try it out to see if his newer and faster machine fares better, but obviously this is unusable for me right now.   I am having some problems figuring out how to get a Path to a selected Folder. By path I mean Full Path. Or at least something that would get me there. Currently my code looks like this ( in the Exec method, so i know my item is selected, and my command fired ). I am aware that ON the UIHeirachyItem I have no path, however, I should be able to navigate to the project Item, and get the path from there, and attach my items name to it.   I am working on a mapping project that allows the user to draw polylines. It all seems to work when the user clicks points of the polyline. From there I save the gps coords to a database. When I then retrieve the coordinates and display the polyline it does crazy things. It initially displays correctly but when zooming in, the line sometimes disappears, or draws in incorrect locations. If it does draw in incorrect locations and you pan, the polyline constantly moves. • Windows Forms WebBrowser Control not allowing active content w/out approval each time

  Hi, I have a windows form with a webbrowser control that loads an html page with an embedded activex control. On both my development machine and client test machine I am running XP SP2 w/IE7 and I have the IE7 advanced options set to allow active content to run in files on my computer. On the development machine I get no information bar warning in IE7 or my webbrowser control. However, on the client test machine I get the warning message below even though when I load the page in IE7 I get no warning. "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options."
