  • SQL Server All Users are being IDed as 'dbo'

We have a SQL Server 2005 database set up. We are trying to add new users to one of four define roles. Even though we are creating new login, then assigning each new login to one of the four roles. The server is returning 'dbo' as the user no matter who is logging in. Is there some setting that is causing this behavior Thanks of any help. One likely possibility is that in your production system, the client is using credentials with SYSADMIN privileges (i.e. the login they are using is a member of the server fixed role SYSADMIN). Members of SYSADMIN will always have a user-identity of “dbo” in any database in the system. -Raul Garcia SDE/T SQL Server Engine ...Show All

  • Visual Studio Tools for Office After programming with VSTO, Excel double-click/shortcuts/"open with" no longer work

Hi, I'm developing a complex Excel 2003 app using VSTO 2005. Now when I try (with VS2005 and my application closed) to open an Excel file by double-clicking on it in explorer, Excel 2003 opens but the file itself does not. I have to go to the menu item File->Open and select the file. In the course of developing and debugging this app, Excel has crashed numerous times on my machine. I suspect that VSTO or my code changed some setting somewhere and I need to programatically change it back, but I have no idea where that would be. I suspect that because I have also encountered this bug/problem. Anybody have any insight/suggestions Thank you so much Devin! The answer was in the first knowledge ...Show All

  • SQL Server Oracle Data Source Problem: Cannot connect during deployment. Help!

I am developing an SSAS project which looks at an Oracle database but I cannot for the life of me get it to process. This is one of those awful Oracle connectivity problems! Now, in the DataSource, I can edit and the test connection works perfectly. Every other application can connect to the Oracel server correctly. The problem comes when I try to deploy my project. I get errors left right and centre. They even change between attempts! Most common is TNS name resolution error: Error 1 OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified. 0 0 Yet, as I have said, when I test the connection everything is OK. And I can use the same connection details in every other application. Wh ...Show All

  • Software Development for Windows Vista Are you having problems with the June CTP SDK install?

The June CTP is live and we're excited that so many of you have downloaded it. Unfortunately, we've received several reports of users who get errors like this when they try to use the ISO:   Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file c:\t\setup\winsdk-sdk_Core_SM_MLT-common.0.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt.   That usually means that there was some corruption in the ISO when it got downloaded.   To verify that your download of an ISO file for the Windows SDK June CTP build is not corrupt, download the CRC Utility .    To run the CRC test, open a command prompt and run the utility ...Show All

  • Windows Forms Running an Assembly across a Network

I have a Windows Form application that uses SQL Server and C1 Libraries. No problem exists if I copy the entire Assembly to remote systems but it would be much easier if users could have a Shortcut directly to the \\server\program.exe on users desktops. I suspect that CAS has resulted in the error:- System.Security.SecurityException was unhandled Message: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. • .NET Development XML Thread

I have an application that requests an XML file off of a web server (not as a web service, unfortunately). That request can take up to 90 seconds based upon the network speed. I would like to spawn the request on another thread and let the UI finish loading. Here is my first attempt: // Show the Please Wait message frmPleaseWait pleaseWait = new frmPleaseWait (); pleaseWait.Show(); // Get the stations Thread t = new Thread (getInitialXml); t.Start(); while (t.IsAlive) { } // Hide the please wait form pleaseWait.Hide(); I know that the while loop lock the UI thread and prevents it from loading until the XML thread is finished. • Game Technologies: DirectX, XNA, XACT, etc. BoundingBox for Models

Hi, I'm very much used to using Geometry.ComputeBoundingBox() from MDX 1.1 and am wondering where the equivalent in XNA is. My problem at the moment is that my models are having their centres placed at Y coordinate 0, so half is above ground and half is below ground. My solution has always been to compute the bounding box and simply raise the mesh by the amount that the min vertex is below the ground. (So minVertex.Y = 0). The BoundingBox has a constructor that takes a List of Vector3s, but this would presumably mean iterating over every ModelMesh in a Model, reading out the Vertex data from the VertexBuffer and extracting the x,y,z values for each vertex... this seems rather long winded I've seen a lot of people talking about ...Show All
