Visual Studio 2008 (Pre-release) CompositionTarget Animation
I am doing some tests to try and see if I can get decent performance animating some lines. Originally I tried using UIElements and animating them but that was too slow. I then tried geometries but that was too slow as well. I am now trying to use CompositionTarget.Rendering to draw my animation and I am getting much better results but I still feel that it is too slow for what I want to do. I also feel that I should be able to get this working faster as it is a very simple animation. I am hoping that someone can tell me if I am doing this the right way and if there might be a better way to do it. My animation is just a simple test involving a whole heap of lines that just swing back and forth. That is, I am animating just one of th ...Show All

The database has the standard generic names like 'idSystem' etc. I have created a Metadata file with user friendly names 'Control System Id', but rather than have to retype all those names and descriptions over into the [Friendly Name Property] I'd like to try to pull that information into the model. So my question is... SQL Server Batch Script
Hello everyone, I have about 20 dtsx packages to run in a particular order. Some create tables, other fill/convert data, and others just clean/remove temporary tables. Everything works ok manually... But, i need to run them automatically. A batch script seems the quickest and more simple way to do... So, I made a batch with something like this: dtexec.exe file1.dtsx > output1.txt dtexec.exe file2.dtsx > output2.txt dtexec.exe file3.dtsx > output3.txt (the ideia is to save the logs...) My first question is... I get a very usual "product level is insufficient" (0xC00470FE) error on some components... It's wierd because manually works ok. But through the batch it returns lot's of these... I searched for in ...Show All
Visual C# Help: Slow Launch application at first run after each reboot
Hi, I've developed an application (only one screen, not too big, published size is about 4MB) It runs expected. The problem I'm facing is that for a given PC, it takes quite long (1-2minutes) to launch this program. The screen waits at the Launching Application message "Verifying application requirements. This may take a few moments". This occurs only at the FIRST launch after EACH REBOOT. Subsequent launching of the program only takes a fraction of seconds. I don't understand why it happens. Hope someone can give me insights. Thanks! best regards, jackLing Hi, Thanks for your reply again. I get what you mean. I have published my application to a shared folder then run ...Show All

Visual Studio ReportServerCredentials
T he scenario is simple: I have a reportviewer control and want to show & print a ServerReport. The application needs to be able to connect to the reporting service over the internet and the client machines do not need to be in the same domain. This is the same authentication scenario that applies to viewing reports through HTTP using internet explorer and a URL to the reportserver virtual directory: Internet Explorer asks for a user and password. Howerver, I want to specify the credentials programatically so the users don't need to enter them manually. Since the ReportViewer is connecting to the ReportServer website through HTTP (I guess its calling the webservice or even just displaying the HTML returned by the reportserver aspx), th ...Show All

Once you have XNA installed you can uninstall VC# Express if you wan to use VS, but as they run side-by-side without problems why bother, unless you're hard up for disk space.
